How are you practicing what you want?
I’ve been journaling/reflecting on this question and it reveals a lot.
First of all, knowing what you want is tricky if you’re not used to paying attention to what you want, if your wants haven’t mattered in the past, or if you’ve felt unworthy of your wants.
Secondly, reckoning with knowing what you want and the ways you aren’t in alignment with actions towards that want is confronting — so much so that we often avoid getting what we want because it means we have to put in the work, and putting in the work isn’t comfortable.
Do you want to talk more kindly to yourself? The practice is noticing when you aren’t and choosing something different.
Do you want to meditate? The practice is choosing to meditate when you’re able to.
Do you want to spend less time on your phone? The practice is keeping your phone away as often as possible.
Do you want to read more? The practice is scheduling time to read and picking up your book.
Do you want to cultivate more nourishing relationships? The practice is putting yourself in the way of community.
Do you want to ________? The practice is _________.
(These, of course, are just examples)
Practicing doesn’t mean it’s easy, simple, or straight-forward. Practice doesn’t mean we’ll get everything we want. Practice doesn’t mean it will happen quickly or with instant gratification.
What practice means is that we have enough respect for ourselves to make choices that align with what we’re wanting, over and over again, even when we falter or get off course.
Practice means not needing to get it “right” every time, be perfect, or go according to plan. It means choosing to practice it, again and again, for the rest of time. Because I think that’s the only option, really.
How are you practicing what you want?
How are you moving towards what you want?
How are you honoring what you want by aligning your actions with it?
How is life getting in the way, and what needs to shift to make it a little easier?
How are you letting your wants matter?

I'm regularly described as gentle, which is interesting because I spent most of my life being anything but gentle towards myself. It's easy to give to others before ourselves, isn't it? Approaching myself with gentleness has been a practice I've only started developing over the last few years, and one that continues to unfold as I do.

Approaching myself with gentleness has been a practice I've only started developing over the last few years, and one that continues to unfold as I do. A question I've been asking myself often lately: "How can I be gentle with myself here?" This simple question creates space. It creates room to choose. It creates a disruption of patterned response. It creates a reminder of my own capacity to show up for myself. It creates an honoring. A remembering. A belief in my ability to be with myself in a way that honors my goodness. It creates the opportunity to do something differently, one moment at a time. It creates empowerment. It creates a new emotional experience with myself, which literally changes my brain. What is on your list of what self-gentleness looks like? How do you know when you're being gentle with yourself? How does your nervous system respond to gentleness? We are heading into the descent of winter. 
Life is being drawn into the earth, painlessly descending down into the very heart of herself. 
And we as natural human animals are being called to do the same, 
the pull to descend into our bodies, into sleep, darkness and the depths of our own inner caves is continually tugging at our marrow. 
But many find the descent into their own body a scary thing indeed, 
fearing the unmet emotions and past events, that they have stored in the dark caves inside themselves, not wanting to face what they have so carefully and unkindly avoided. 
This winter time is no longer celebrated as it once was, with the understanding that this period of descent into our own darkness was so necessary in order to find our light. 
That true freedom comes from accepting with forgiveness and love what we have been through and vanquishing the hold it has on us, bringing the golden treasure back from the cave of our darker depths.
The winter time is a time of rest and deep reflection, a time to wipe the slate clean as it were and clear out the old. So you can walk into spring feeling ready to grow and skip without a dusty mountain on your back. Without the grey rubble causing blockages at the gateway to your soul. 
For when you do not start to meet these parts of you, they block the doorway to your soul, and so happiness, joy, love and life can also no longer pass through and touch you deeply, the beauty of Spring will not be able to reach your centre. 
Winter is a time for the medicine of story, of fire, of nourishment and love to call you home, into yourself.
A period of reconnecting, relearning & reclaiming of what this time means brings winter back to a time of kindness, love, rebirth, peace and unburdening instead of a time of dread, fear, depression and avoidance. 
This modern culture teaches avoidance at a max at this time; alcohol, lights, shopping, overworking, over spending, bad food and consumerism. 
And yet the natural tug to go inwards as nearly all creatures are doing is strong and people are left feeling as if there is something wrong with them, that winter is cruel and leaves them feeling abandoned and afraid. *continued below* ⬇.

-Wendy Mass♥️ // currently growing through some uncomfortable ass emotions at this moment. I usually can feel when I’m going up and coming back down. It’s a flow I’m still learning how to love and learning what seasons are for me. I’m realizing that I do have an issue when it comes to speaking up about my emotions because I’ve been in situations that caused me to keep them down because “they do nothing for you”. This morning I woke up extremely sensitive and vulnerable. Last night was the same. I wanted to wake up and shift my mind, but the reality is that there isn’t enough “let me feel good” mantras to extract this burden/sadness I’m feeling. When I’m not creating I feel dead. When I’m stagnant I feel useless. This post isn’t for sympathy, but just literally awareness to let others know I too grow through dark periods and eventually I will find myself out. I tell myself it’s okay to feel this. But when your initial reaction to shut down and not want to open up, it does get hard to get up in the mornings. Since coming back from my trip I’ve been feeling this sense of like not wanting to be in the space I’m currently at. I know what I have to do and I also know that part of the problem is the patience I need. A process and I’m chatting. Never pass me as a “love and light” shawty please. A bitch be real life and online life sad too. I’m human too. Also I really do not have the mental capacity to hold a convo so if you see me posting and I haven’t replied to you, don’t take it personal. I have my own life as well other accounts, emails, people I have to work with as well. I’m only one person. And this isn’t coming from a space of victimhood, we are off that. We passed that area lol I just know that being super open about where I am mentally helps me heal as well others. But it’s still very hard for me to express this out loud. Healing isn’t linear ♥️ I also know this is very cancer of me, so fight me hoe. •
