How about some mid-week, glowing boxwood and brass for #cooltooltuesday ? This arrangement of a selection of some of my favorite things seems to fit the bill today. What do we have here? Well, the Bickford & Huffman Company piece is one of my favorites in the realm of advertising rules. I did also toss in the cute Eberhard Faber piece (admittedly not boxwood), which I really like due to their prominent place in pencil and pencil sharpener lore. The pair of quarter-scale tailor’s squares in the lower left are so pleasing due to their diminutive size. The large rope caliper at the upper left is for measuring the diameter and circumference of rope, typically as would be used for (but not limited to) nautical purposes. There’s a pretty little unfinished four-fold example right below the rope caliper, which is missing any graduations. This piece originated from the I & D Smallwood factory of Birmingham, England when it closed down in 1999. In addition to some other gems, I’ve included several brass grain weights in dram and scruple units to help fill in some of the gaps. Радиобудни. Провел измерения динамического диапазона (односелективной избирательности) двух японцев Yaesu VX-6R и Yaesu VX-8E. Измерял двумя генераторами, в соответствии с ГОСТом. При отстройке мешающего генератора на 25кГц избирательность обеих станций по соседнему каналу составила около 60дБ, что ниже норм ГОСТа 1986 года! Более того, у VX-6R нормально SINAD измерить не удалось, поскольку на громкости выше половины гармонические искажения сигнала на нагрузке 8Ом достигают 56%! Измерял в режиме соотношения сигнал/шум без учёта гармонических искажений. У VX-8E со звуком все в порядке и там измерения прошли без проблем. Станции не старые, жизнью не убитые. Но почему-то пока я писал это описание к фотографии у меня сложилось впечатление, что я пишу не про дорогущие японские станции, а про китайский ширпотреб. Ещё протестирую на реальном эфире, как я это уже делал на лайф канале, но что-то мне подсказвает, что большой разницы с китайцами не будет.
