My hair is not easy to manage. My hair is doubted by others for its “true” texture. My hair is a statement, a silent protest to standards of “beauty.” My hair IS beauty. My hair is sensitive and brilliant and bright.

My hair is loud. My hair is soft. My hair is bold and unforgiving in its blackness. My hair is connected to my ancestry. My hair is a declaration of survival in a world so against its very existence. My hair is natural. My hair is kinky and wild. My hair is refined. My hair is classy. My hair is fresh air and rainfalls. My hair is pounding waves and thunderous earthquakes. My hair is powerful. My hair is gentle and soothing. My hair is fun and laughter. My hair is warmth. My hair is special. My hair is sacred. My hair is precious, but not all that I am...

My hair is self-love. My hair is growth. My hair is inspiring. My hair is elegant. My hair is more than professional. My hair is more than enough. My hair is my own “hair goals.” My hair is unbothered by the opinions of those not paying for or offering to do it. My hair is royal. My hair is a crown. My hair is real. My hair is honest. My hair is healthy. My hair is part of me. My hair sees no value in showing it’s length to those who doubt it. My hair is bold. My hair is rooted in my culture. My hair twists, bends, braids, curls, stretches, moves and holds every shape possible. My hair is 4C and I wouldn’t change a thing. My hair defies gravity. My hair is magic and I love every strand✨

Question of the day: what’s a song you can’t stop listening to? (I’m trying to update my playlist 👀🎶).

굿 모닝~ 오늘 날씨가 너무 춥다. 겨울를 싫어, 봄은 어디에요??? 😭❄️ Today I really miss summer and wish spring would hurry up and come back. But there’s still beauty in the cold too.

The way my breath rises like steam as I snuggle deeper within the folds of my scarf. The crunch of my feet against the pure white snow blanketing everything. The echoing silence at night that seems to be filled with a sense of wonder and magic. The holiday tunes bringing smiles to most faces and a sudden desire in others to show more kindness and love as we inch closer to the most wonderful time of the year...

There is beauty in winter. And while I may enjoy one season over the other, each has a purpose. And it’s because of winter’s existence that spring is so anticipated. The buds slowly spreading open with brilliant colors and the grass growing greener than we remembered it. The sun slowly drawing closer to wrap us up in the soft edges of summer. The rebirth of nature is beautiful because we know what it is like without it.
-
In the same way we should learn to appreciate the seasons in our lives. Look for value in the moments that your happiness wanes and understand it will pass. You will be back on the top of the mountain soon enough. Knowing sorrow, knowing pain, knowing struggle has helped you to feel more gratitude towards what you obtain or still have within your grasp. A life without any struggle is a life without growth. Stagnant. Flatlined. While you don’t need to suffer every single day to feel joyful, look back at what you’ve made it through with admiration for yourself as you bask in the blessings you have now. And if you’re still in the midst of another winter or you can see it peeking over the horizon — just remember every season has it’s time.
-
TLDR: Winter may be coming, but spring always follows thereafter. You will not rot in the cold. You will endure and emerge better and stronger than you ever thought possible. You can only grow from here🌱

The warm sun kissed the earth
To consecrate thy birth,
And from his close embrace
Thy radiant face
Sprang into sight,
A blossoming delight.
