Friends and family have been describing how this time of year changes their mood for the worse and the holidays seem to help for some (the magic of the season!) and worsen it for others (family quarrels, loneliness). Please take care of yourselves this season and if you need inspiration, here is what I’ve been doing:
Going to my regular dance and yoga classes once a week. It’s nice to see and talk to the same people once a week outside of work.
Giving myself a night off each week to chill.
Also - not shopping. I’ve really tried to curb my window shopping and browsing and am staying away from websites, blogs, and YouTube channels promoting products. It’s difficult but I’ve gained some time back and energy that I can put into socializing. This time of year, between work parties, family obligations, and other events, I need more social energy than normal and not shopping means I don’t expend energy on wanting things and can instead channel that limited energy into fruitfully spending time with others.
