"Milky Bioluminescence" - Doing the rounds again 😆 Yes it is a real photo ✅ Yes I did take it ✅ Yes it is one exposure (not composite) ✅ Yes prints are available ✅ (See link in bio) —— Bioluminescent Phytoplankton or "Sea Sparkles" captured on the neck of the South Arm Peninsula in Tasmania, @australia I found that each I took photo would have different unique characteristics due to sea sparkle washing across the shore. It's amazing to witness this stuff and it was great taking the kids down to see the glow especially as they walked through the water that agitate it. They would stomp through it and leave "superhero footprints" behind them. - - Canon 5DmkIII + 14mm f/2.8 3200iso 25secs 2.8 - For prints check out the link in my bio 👍🏽 - - #milkyway #milkywaychasers #bioluminescence #nightsky #longexposure #astrophotography #davidmalinawards #timeless_universe #earthpix #natgeo #natgeoutdoors #seeaustralia #discovertasmania #nightphotography #wildlifeplantet #nakedplanet #nationsgeography #amazing_australia #earthpix #photooftheday #instagood #hubs_united #ig_shotz #instatassie #night_excl #nature #universetoday #night_shots #night_shooterz #australiangeographic #awesomeearth ...

Making fresh tracks along Pinnacle Road on kunanyi/Mt Wellington thanks to @digitalhippie 67 ❄ The Pinnacle Road, from the turn off at the Springs to the summit of Mount Wellington, was officially opened on the 23 January 1937 by the Governor of the day, Sir Ernest Clark. The event was witnessed by 2,000 people. The opening ceremony marked the culmination of over two years work by a large gang of sustenance workers. During the depression years, the Government of Tasmania looked for projects to provide work for the large numbers of unemployed men. The Pinnacle Road to Mount Wellington was one such project. Over the road construction period of 30 months, thousands of men were employed for short periods of time. From the turn off at the Springs the Pinnacle Road is approximately 7.3 kilometres in length; and it is 6.1 metres wide has a maximum gradient of one in fourteen. There is no better way to experience our mountain and its magnificent scenery than walking or mountain biking up Pinnacle Road ❄ #TasmaniaGram #InstaTasmania #InstaTassie #tasmania #tassie #tassiepics #PinnacleRoad #kunanyi #mtwellington #winterwonderland ...

If you ever need to find me, there’s a fair chance you’ll do it standing on top of a peak in Tasmania’s staggering southwest. It’s rare you get a clear sky out there, much less a sunrise like this… but that makes the times you do all the more special. ⠀ ⠀⠀ — ⠀ @canonaustralia EOS 5D Mark IV @samyang_australia 14mm f/2.8 UMC ED ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ ⠀ @hobartandbeyond #hobartandbeyond @Tasmania #tasmania #australia @australia @canon #canon #instatasmania @instatasmania #tasmaniagram @tasmaniagram #ig_australia #exploringaustralia #discovertasmania #instameets_tasmania #instatassie #landscapephotography #australiagram #nature_wizards #landscape_captures #ig_australia #nature_shooters #australialovesyou #canoneos #landscapestyles_gf #canonphotos #landscape_lovers #ig_exquisite #fantastic_earth #ourplanetdaily #ic_landscapes #sky_captures ...

Reminiscing about those mornings in Tasmania, where sunrises were so stunning everyday, that waking up early was not a problem at all! Did you know that these beautiful sky colours are a consequence of sunlight being able to pass through more of the atmosphere, when the sun is low on the horizon? This process is known as “scattering”, and consists on shorter wavelength colours, such as blue and violet getting scattered away from our eyes, leaving longer wavelength colours like orange, red and yellow for us to astonish ourselves with these lovely views #winter #tbt #sunrise #skyporn #tasmania #instatassie #facts #science #nerd #tasmanpeninsula #canonaustralia #canon #australia #seeaustralia #divelatrobe #eagle #hawk #neck #ocean #scubadivinglife #nature #technicolor #colour #discovertasmania ...

My first ID and photo of this beautiful bird. In rain sitting on a boulder an old tree stump behind. Magic! Interesting history via Wikipedia : The dusky robin (Melanodryas vittata) is a small passerine bird native to Tasmania. A member of the Australian robin family Petroicidae, it is not related to robins of Europe and North America. It is a brown-plumaged bird of open woodland The dusky robin was described by the French zoologists Jean Quoy and Joseph Gaimard in 1832 based on a specimen that the authors mistakenly believed had been collected in "le port du Roi-Georges, à la Nouvelle-Hollande" but that had actually come from Tasmania. They coined the binomial name, Muscicapa vittata.[2][3][a] It was known for many years as Petroica vittata before being placed in its current genus Melanodryas. Two subspecies are recognised, one on the Tasmanian mainland and one on King Island. 'Stump robin' was a name given it by early settlers from its habit of sitting on stumps or posts.[5] Other local names include 'wood robin' and 'sad robin'.[6] #discovertasmania #discovertassie #birdsofinstagram #instatassie #instatasmania #birdphotography #australianbirdphotography #tasmaniagram #tassie #tasmania #tasmaniaparks #birdsoftasmania #birdlifetasmania #birdlifetas #ogalinga #kpac967 #birdsoftheplanet #bazzabaker #haroldsmith1 #kpretorius59 #tasphotos2015 #beautyoftasmania #ig_aussiepix #birdsofaustralia #australiatouristguides ...

Female superb fairywren (yesterday at Fern Glade Burnie) (Malurus cyaneus) is a passerine bird in the Australasian wren family, Maluridae, and is common and familiar across south-eastern Australia. The species is sedentary and territorial, also exhibiting a high degree of sexual dimorphism; the male in breeding plumage has a striking bright blue forehead, ear coverts, mantle, and tail, with a black mask and black or dark blue throat. Non-breeding males, females and juveniles are predominantly grey-brown in colour; this gave the early impression that males were polygamous, as all dull-coloured birds were taken for females. Six subspecies groups are recognized: three larger and darker forms from Tasmania, Flinders and King Island respectively, and three smaller and paler forms from mainland Australia and Kangaroo Island. #discovertasmania #discovertassie #birdsofinstagram #instatassie #instatasmania #birdphotography #australianbirdphotography #tasmaniagram #tassie #tasmania #tasmaniaparks #birdsoftasmania #birdlifetasmania #birdlifetas #ogalinga #kpac967 #birdsoftheplanet #bazzabaker #haroldsmith1 #kpretorius59 #tasphotos2015 #beautyoftasmania #ig_aussiepix #birdsofaustralia #australiatouristguides ...
